Our annual Get to the Point event would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and local businesses.

All of the sponsorship money is used to provide entertainment, activities and prizes over the day – including free entertainment, subsidised amusements for the children, one of the largest prize pools in the South Island shearing circuit, and our $1000 cash prize draw, to name a few.

We encourage you to support these sponsors who are helping to make Get To The Point a successful day for yet another year.

Our independent service station is situated on the Corner of SH8 and Te Ngawai Road, Pleasant Point (the name says it all). Atkinson and Dossett has been operating for over 60 years.

We service the township and the local farming community, as well as travelling public. Being in a residential and farming area our services reflect our customers’ needs – we have a workshop, general shop, post office agency and forecourt which are all kept busy.

We have put service back into ‘service station’, operating seven days a week.

Our community is our lifeblood. While we do get travelling customers, our locals are what we represent. We sponsor our local schools, rugby clubs, bowling club, and the local ‘Get to The Point Day’. While in Pleasant Point we recommend you check out the Pleasant Point Museum and Railway – it’s not be missed with its AB699 Steam Locomotive and the world’s only Model T Ford Railcar.

We accept all supermarket fuel discount vouchers and we are the unofficial information centre for our local and travelling public.

O’Rourke Taxidermists $1000 Cash Prize Giveaway

O’Rourke Taxidermists have been operating from little ol’ Pleasant Point, New Zealand, for almost 60 years, and has been exporting trophies, the world over, for at least half a century.

From humble beginnings, the team currently has over 100 years experience on the floor, and continues to provide exceptional quality mounts across a broad range of animals – from big game animals to a variety of fish and birds.

In addition to providing top quality taxidermy services, we can arrange packing and freight (including all that pesky documentation) for trophies both domestically and internationally.

A love of hunting is in our blood and when we are not in the taxidermy studio, we’re probably out in the hills stalking animals…

Please let us know how we can help you.
